My name is Dereck Gilbert. I’m a long-term Linux user and currently an application development major in college. I’m also a hobbyist when it comes to web development and an aspiring StarCraft player.

I started playing StarCraft in 2002, but it was never anything serious. In 2006, I found TeamLiquid and the rest went from there. I started following the pro-scene like an addict. My first HUGE commitment came in 2008, when I turned 18. I had found StarCraft2.com and had instantly known it would change the gaming scene forever, just as it’s predecessor had done. Playing Zerg in Brood War, I made the decision to get my race’s logo placed permanently on my arm in the form of a tattoo. Since then, I have played only Zerg in 1v1 matches in StarCraft 2 beginning in the Wings of Liberty Beta. At the time, I had reached Gold League (when it was the second highest league). Currently, I’m ranked in Platinum league with around a 60% win rate. If that changes in the near future, it’s because I’m letting a higher-ranked friend borrow my account temporarily.
